How You Can Make Money With Opt in List Building

February 7th, 2010

R Black asked:

If you are reading this then you have probably decided that you are going to build your own opt in list. It seems like everywhere you look, all the make money online resources tell you that the money “is in the list” and they are absolutely correct. But just how do you make money with mailing list subscribers? In this article I have provided the top three tips to successfully making money with list building.

1. Advert placement
Companies will pay you a fee to place an advert within your emails to your subscribers. It doesn’t have to be obtrusive, just a small text link, or banner ad at the bottom of your email messages would be sufficient. This way you are bringing potential viewers to the company’s’ ad, and you aren’t distracting or disturbing your subscribers

2. Advertise your products to your list
You can gain many easy sales to your own products by marketing them to your list correctly. Build them up to your product by sending them pre-sell emails before revealing your product to them. This is a clever and proven way to make money from your list. The top internet marketers today make most of their living by using this method

3. Affiliate marketing
Unless you have been in some distant part of the internet, you have no doubt heard of affiliate marketing. It has literally taken the internet by storm and crated many full time incomes for many people. Basically you can stand to make a lot of money from your list by offering them affiliate products. There are so many out there to choose from, and it saves you time by not having to create the products yourself. All you have to do is place your affiliate link in an email message, and wait for the commissions to roll in.

Consumer Email List

February 6th, 2010

John Osgood asked:

Before you build a mailing list, it is highly recommended that you read the Clue Train manifesto. (Check out ClueTrain.com.) If you have already read it, then this is just a reminder on how important it is to build relationships, because marketing today is all about having meaningful conversations.

Relationship marketing tells us that marketers must first build strong relationships with customers instead of just focusing on one time transactions, and a huge part of building relationships is having meaningful conversations. Before the email list building process, a marketer or business owner should have meaningful conversations with prospects.

Often, the focus is just on acquiring a prospect’s contact information for email marketing list building, and the mistake with that is this: bombarding people with cold, meaningless marketing messages just to get them to sign up for newsletters or buy a product does not work! Being talked to, preached at, or lectured to by those trying to win a business is generally perceived as annoying, not persuasive.

If you want to win business and eventually get the person to become a part of your business email list, take the time to talk to them, ask about their needs, wishes, and wants. Make it easy and comfortable for you to share in what they think. In short, if you really want new business (and a bigger email contact list, have a conversation.

Conversational marketing is all about participating in conversations about your products in blogs, forums, review sites and wikis. It can also sometimes be about taking the conversations offline, where you invite a group of prospects to a location and have real-life, authentic conversations with them.

When you focus on conversations and relationship building before and during the time you are creating email lists, several things happen:

1. your product or service will become personal and have an authentic voice
2. you will enjoy increased retention and repeat sales
3. you will create loyal customers and brand ambassadors
4. you will have improved credibility
5. you will have access to feedback about your product/service
6. your company will not be perceived as a company that only cares about profit

When you do this, you can then build the chemistry, confidence, and commitment that lead to new revenues – and eventually, make it easier for them to want to become a part of your customer email list. In stressing the need to create conversations to improve your marketing effectiveness, I am not saying that traditional marketing approaches should be discarded, rather, they need to be turned into conversational activities. Nothing builds relationships better than regular, meaningful conversations.

To quote the Clue Train Manifesto:

“Networked markets are beginning to self-organize faster than the companies that have traditionally served them. Thanks to the web, markets are becoming better informed, smarter, and more demanding of qualities missing from most business organizations.”

“Markets are conversations.”

“Markets consist of human beings, not demographic sectors.”

Therefore, before you squeeze their contact information for your email contact list using traditional Internet Squeeze or Capture Page techniques, understand that your prospects have evolved with the Internet and require relationship building before they give up that valuable information to you.

How to Make Money With Email Marketing

February 5th, 2010

Jason Morecraft asked:

Times have changed. Back in the day it was possible to sell your product based solely on the quality of it. Now there’s so much competition on the internet that your product on its own isn’t going to be enough. Your buyers don’t want to feel like they are buying from a company, they want to feel like they are buying from you. To really super charge your online sales you need to establish a relationship. While there are various ways to do that, there’s one that is tired and true. Email marketing.

One of the biggest payoffs from an effective email marketing campaign is that it establishes a relationship with your buyer. People buy things from people they like. Unlike a sales ad where you have to tell them all the benefits of your product before they click off the page, in an email you have the time and ability to let your true voice show through while still subtly pitching what you have to offer.

Another benefit of email marketing is that you can send them a steady stream of messages. The more often they hear from you, the more they will trust you. With that said, no one likes to be spammed with useless information. If you are going to be emailing your potential buyers it had either be interesting or useful. The second they associate you with annoying emails you’ve lost the sale.

So how do you build your email list? You can buy a list from a list broker. Depending on how big your list you could be looking to spend anywhere from a couple hundred dollars up into the thousands. If you are planning on buying a list make sure you ask where they get their list. Everyone on your list must be voluntarily there or you could pay big time for spamming. One of the pitfalls of buying a list though is that it’s not as targeted. Probably a good portion of the list isn’t going to be interested in what you offer.

If you want a targeted list where you know everyone is a potential buyer then you need to do it the long way. Create a website and ad an opt-in form. Offer something free to them for signing up. If you’re selling golf clubs offer something like a “Free Report on the Best Tips to Improve Your Swing.” If it’s a cooking site you could offer “10 delicious Recipes for Thanksgiving.” People aren’t going to give you their information for nothing so make sure whatever you are offer them is enticing enough.

Once you have your list in progress you can start sending weekly or monthly emails. You want to stay consistent with your frequency though and again, make sure there is value in reading them. The point is to keep them on the list. If you are junking up their inbox they’re likely to ask to be removed. If they ask to be removed you MUST remove them. If you keep emailing them it will be considered spam. So long as you offer them valuable information in your email marketing campaign though people will be more inclined to trust you thus more inclined to buy.

Opt In Email List – Power With Email Marketing Campaign

February 3rd, 2010

Juhani Tontti asked:

In this article I write about two issues concerning list building: what is the most effective way to collect the email addresses and what to do with those addresses?

1.Put The Opt In Form On Your Site And Blog.

If you put yourself into the trousers of your prospect, would you be interested to know, what you are ordering?

I bet, yes you would!

The only right way to build opt in email list is to collect the names and addresses from your own site or blog. In tis way people know, what kind of information they are getting.

It is clear that the list building takes time, but through effective email marketing campaign you can start to market to the people, even if you have ten names on your list.

My own opt in email list grows by about 40 new names per week. It`s really not a world record, but it makes over 2.000 people a year, and these people are INTERESTED about what they have ordered.

I use the opt in form on all of my site pages ( including articles ) and on my affiliate marketing blog, so when the site visitor is fascinating about my information ( sometimes it happens ) he can sign in immediately and get more useful information.

The idea is to turn the “hot” visitor into a long term friend and use the email marketing campaign to keep contact with him during a long period of time.

By the way, my list building target for this year is a little bit higher, I try to get 3.000 new names. That would be a great kick for my online income too.

2.Remember: Your Friends Are On Your Opt In Email List.

What is the most unpolite way to keep contact? Well, I think one of the worst ways is to use email marketing campaign, which is based on autoresponder emails. Especially if they look like that!

Emails, especially from friends, are seen always as personal messages. It doesn`t matter, that the receiver understands that the email is a part of a email marketing campaign!

This means that an effective marketer segment the addresses on his opt in email list and sends taylor-made messages for each segment. This increases the conversion rate.

So very clearly the email marketing campaign is 100 % relationship building, using autoresponder, yes, but by sending segmented messages.

The reason ,why people has joined your opt in email list is, that they are waiting valuable information. The information, which they can utilize in their own internet business.

This is very important point, especially when the email marketing campaigns last several months or a couple of years.
